British boxer Anthony Joshua Discharged from Medical Facility in Nigeria Following Deadly Road Accident
Olympic gold medalist Anthony Joshua has been released from care, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The athlete was part of a serious road collision near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that resulted in the deaths of two of his close associates.
Under Observation for Minor Injuries
The sports star had been under observation while recovering from minor injuries, his promoter confirmed on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, said in a statement on social media that Joshua was declared medically stable to leave and heal privately.
“Anthony and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to say their last goodbyes to his two friends who passed away as they were being made ready for the journey back,” the official remarked.
A Tribute to the Fallen
The two men who died were identified as Latif Ayodele, Joshua's trainer, and Sina Ghami, a performance coach. It was also noted that the boxer was “heavy-hearted and deeply emotional over the passing of his two close friends.”
