Rob Edwards and Gary O'Neil are two of the initial names under consideration to succeed Vitor Pereira as head coach of Wolves.

Pereira was dismissed on Sunday following the squad's 10-match winless start to the Premier League season.

Furthermore Edwards and O'Neil - both of who have previous links to the club - are part of the options to be considered by the club leadership.

The manager is currently at Middlesbrough, which would create a potential obstacle to his appointment at Molineux.

However the ex- Luton head coach - who made over a century of appearances for Wolves during his playing career - is said to be a strong candidate for the vacancy.

The 42-year-old is said to have support from the Wolves directors as they begin the search of appointing a fresh manager.

Gary O'Neil is also emerging as a unexpected contender, although he would be a surprising appointment considering he was released by the club in December last year.

The former West Ham player is out of work which means Wolves would not be required to pay any compensation.
