The incident resulted in the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the Terminal 3 car park.

Two men have been charged related to a luggage theft where a substance thought to be irritant spray caused injuries at the major London air hub.

Tyrone Richards, 31, and Anton Clarke-Butcher, 24, have both been charged with two robbery charges and two counts of using a harmful chemical, authorities have stated.

These accusations come after an investigation into an assault at the parking structure at Terminal 3 on the weekend. Before the assault occurred, two women were robbed of their luggage stolen after getting out of a parking garage elevator, police said.

A three-year-old girl was among those injured in the event. Five people required hospital care and were subsequently released.

The incident – which authorities stated was not part of a series and not being treated as terrorism – led to train delays and the temporary blocking of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 parking area for a short time.
